Nuclear emergency planning zones

Emergency planning zones are zones where certain immediate protective actions are prepared in detail in advance, with a view to rapid and efficient implementation. These zones are located in the immediate vicinity of the Class 1 nuclear facilities in Belgium covered by the NEP, as well as foreign nuclear power plants in the immediate vicinity of Belgium. By convention, they are circular zones, the size of which is determined per site and according to the direct protective actions for the affected population.
